Students and professionals from diverse academic backgrounds, professions, ethnicities and nationalities partake in these programmes to acquire niche industry experience in line with their academic interests, future works or professional goals.
Internships are provided in several areas including Law, International Law, International Affairs, Diplomacy, Terror Laws, Media, Film Studies, Anthropology, Policy Research, Gender Studies, History and Heritage Management, Human Rights, Refugee and Migrant Rights, etc.
What is a Project Internship Programme?
DraftCraft USA DOES NOT offer internships in its core areas of work.
Limited internship opportunities, however, are offered through the Project Internship Programme where candidates seeking international industry experience get a chance to work on DraftCraft USA's Live Projects and gain hands-on practical experience.
The programme offers project-based industrial internships, and not generic or academic internships, that provide niche industry exposure in specific Focus Areas such as Law, International Affairs, Gender Rights, Policy Research, etc. (details listed below).
Project Internship Programme is also offered in several Modes such as WAP, PROP, PROP-R, etc. (details listed below).
Why should I choose a Project Internship Programme?
A Project Internship Programme provides a unique 'global' industrial experience by allowing candidates to choose a focus area and a country/region of interest for the internship.
For example, a candidate residing in Romania may choose to work on a Live Project in Texas with a focus on Human Rights or a Live Project in New York with a focus on Terror Laws.
Through this programme, interns get a chance to become a part of a fast-growing international community whose members actively work on DraftCraft USA's Live Projects in varying capacities.
These internships are particularly beneficial to individuals looking to embark upon or diversify into an international career.
What is the Eligibility Criteria for this internship programme?
- Candidates must pursue a graduate's or a post-graduate's degree in a relevant field from a recognised institution or university or have completed one
- Candidates must demonstrate high professional aptitude
- Candidates must be creative, self-driven and passionate individuals
- Candidates must possess a general understanding of working of international organisations
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior 'relevant' and 'professional' work experience
Note: 1) 'Relevant' experience pertains to work experience in the field of internship applied for
2) 'Professional' work experience does not include prior internships, free or paid for
Is there any Pre-Requisite Requirement for this internship programme?
In order to partake in a Project Internship Programme, eligible candidates, both Indian and Foreign, have to undertake a mandatory and chargeable Project Appraisal Workshop (PAW) that apprises them about the latest in DraftCraft USA's specialised works in the Live Project(s) in the country / region / zone, chosen for the internship. The workshop includes in-depth and updated information on the legal position and situation on Ground Zero.
PAW is mandatory and chargeable for interns. For details on the workshop and charges applicable, click here.
The workshop is integrated with the internship programme i.e., the workshop sessions are interspersed through the internship period.
PAWs are also mandatory for DraftCraft USA's core team members, researchers and full-time project staff members. They are held every month and at no cost for in-house personnel.
Is there any Scholarship available for PAW?
For select interns the mandatory Project Appraisal Workshop is sponsored, in part or full, by DraftCraft USA as part of its integrated Social Responsibility Programme (SOREPRO).
The sponsored candidates are cherry-picked by DraftCraft USA by dint of proven professional capabilities and specific qualifications.
They include the economically and socially marginalised groups including - members of tribal and indigenous groups who are victims of discrimination; the differently-abled; victims of hate crimes; victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence; and those living in conflict zones.
Candidates who wish to apply for SOREPRO, may check the relevant section in the Internship Application Form. Eligibility for SOREPRO will be thoroughly vetted through appropriate legal documents and certificates. The final decision regarding the application rests with DraftCraft USA.
Presently, the Project Internship Programme is being offered in the following Modes:
Can I apply for an internship in a Focus Area different from my academic or professional background?
Yes, you may apply for an internship programme with a Focus Area different from that of your academic background or professional experience.
Through the Project Internship Programme, internships are offered in myriad areas including Law, International Law, International Affairs, Diplomacy, Terror Laws, Media, Film Studies, Anthropology, Policy Research, Gender Studies, History and Heritage Management, Human Rights, Refugee and Migrant Rights, etc.
So, for example, a candidate with a degree or experience in Law may apply for an internship in International Affairs and Diplomacy or a candidate with a degree or experience in Commerce may apply for an internship in Gender Rights.
However, to qualify for the internship programme, the candidate will have to undertake the mandatory Project Appraisal Workshop that will, in this case, be customised to include fundamental / bridge modules.
What happens after I make an application?
Owing to the rigorous nature of the Project Internship Programme, DraftCraft USA offers a very limited number of internships every month in each Focus Area.
After receiving an application, the office contacts the applicant, only if there is a spot available, to verify the eligibility of the applicant and explain the future course of action.
DraftCraft USA receives a huge volume of internship applications every day. It may take upto two weeks to respond to a fresh application. If you don't receive a response within this time, you may consider your application closed.
